YG TEAMS UP WITH LIL WAYNE ON A NEW SONG, “MISS MY DAWGS”

YG pays tribute to his late friend Slim 400 by delivering a new single collaborating with Lil Wayne, “Miss My Dawgs,” One year after the tragic death of Compton rapper Slim 400. Produced by Gibbo and Ambezza, the track features Lil Wayne’s 2004 album, Tha Carter.

“Miss My Dawgs” arrives alongside a music video that opens with a shot of a Nipsey Hussle mural. The video shows throwback images of YG and his friends, including Slim 400, which are intermittently substituted in the film as the corner shop incident grows into a fight with the cops. In a studio with white walls and, at times, a black hearse, YG and Lil Wayne alternately rap.

Wayne takes a more irreverent approach, utilizing several dog-related analogies to talk about his rivalry in music and his conquests in bed. While YG reflects on his relationship and memories with the lost friends to whom the song is dedicated, Wayne takes a more satirical approach.

The first song from YG since the September release of his sixth studio album, I Got Issues, “Miss My Dawgs” grows the list of YG’s joint work with Lil Wayne, following 2014’s “My N***a (Remix),” 2016’s “I Got A Question,” 2016’s “Trill,” 2020’s “Blood Walk,” and 2021’s “Buzzin’.”
