In a music world where trends come and go, NIXK is proving to be more than just a fleeting moment, but an artist that you’ll remember. For this rising Hiphop/R&B and pop artist, the name was more than just a stage moniker, but rather a promise to the 9-year-old version of himself who believed that anything is possible. In NIXK’s name, the IX stands for the Roman numeral 9, which is an ode to always chasing his dreams with the same mentality he had as a kid.
NIXK was born and raised in West Covina, CA, and grew up immersed in the culture and ambition of Los Angeles. He played Division 1 football at the University of Tennessee and UTEP before switching to music. He is currently based in Dallas, Texas, and has been grinding in the music industry.
“I taught myself how to write, produce, shoot, and edit visuals, and now I’m mastering mixing and engineering,” NIXK shares. “I’m building everything from the ground up because I believe no one can give you a brand or connection to fans. That’s your job as an artist.”
His versatile music field is one of his biggest strengths, with songs like UCHI and CASH. UCHI showcases his smooth R&B side and love-song writing ability, whereas CASH is a high-energy song, built for the gym or even a late-night drive. He draws inspiration from artists like Russ, Drake, and Jack Harlow, and he blends authentic lyricism with melodies that stick.
Music for NIXK is just one part of his vision. As a successful entrepreneur with two real estate companies, he’s working to build “Ninth City”- a fan-focused lifestyle brand offering a variety of different things such as music, merch, business education, and wellness programs. NIXK says, ” I want my platform to help people in every area of life, just like my music does.
Looking ahead, NIXK has quite a few goals for 2025. He is planning on releasing 20 more singles, growing his Instagram following to 20k, sharpening his production skills, and continuing to build his brand.
