MARK ZUCKERBERG AND T-PAIN RELEASE COVER OF “GET LOW”

In anniversaries, the anniversary gifts usually consist of different materials per year. In year one the gift should be made of paper, second-year cotton, third year leather and so on and so on. Now for the 20th year, the gift should be china and for the 25th it should be silver. Now if I’m not mistaken nowhere between the 20th and 25th year does it say custom single of “Get Low”. But I think someone just so happened to tell Mark Zuckerberg that.

Mark Zuckerberg creator of Facebook and now the owner of Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp just recently celebrated his 21st anniversary with his wife, Priscilla Chan. The couple met back in 2003 during college where Zuckerberg created the infamous Facebook app, then called Fashmash. While Zuckerbergs’ friends believed he was going to get kicked out of school they threw him a preemptive going away party. It was there that he met Priscilla and told her that if they were going to have a first date it had to happen soon as he didn’t think he would be staying at Harvard much longer. The couple wed in 2012, have three daughters and now reside in Palo Alto, California. As a happily married man and a very good gift giver apparently, Mark Zuckerberg decided to go out of his way (not financially of course) to get Priscilla the perfect fit for their 21st anniversary.

During that first and oh-so-romantic meeting they had at that party 21 years ago the song that was playing was Lil John’s “Get Low”. Zuckerberg and T-Pain have been friends for a while so this was the perfect pair to put out a cover of this song. The cover has an entirely different vibe than the original. The original song opens up with a fast hip-hop beat singing of “Brrum-dum-dum-dum-duh-dum, duh-dum, dum, dum.” The new song however focuses on that opening in more of what you could say a romantic tone. And that perfectly sets the tone for the rest of the cover. The song is sung in almost a perfect early 2000s romantic sitcom show, something that reminds you of The OC or even just early Justin Timberlake. In contrast, the song has some very vulgar language but with the soft-toned singing that Z-Pain and T-Pain do it’s almost charming. They created the cover specifically for Priscilla but were so gracious enough to release the single on Spotify this past month for us all to enjoy.

But to your fellow lovers out there, it is absolutely okay if you don’t get your partner a cover of the first song you ever heard when you saw them. And to you Mr. Zuckerberg, I think I would be touched if that was my 21st anniversary gift; great choice!
