It’s been two years since Khalid’s last album, so of course, we were all thrilled when he dropped his new EP “Scenic Drive” on December 3rd.
The 9-track project embodies Khalid’s R&B-pop style and features a ton of other artists including Alicia Keys, 6LACK, J.I.D., and more. “I’m excited for the world to hear this,” he says. In an interview with Apple Music from October, Khalid spoke about the creative difficulties he’s experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Although I love writing music, there was a span of time where I didn’t write a song for a whole year.” Since then, he’s been able to rediscover who he is as an artist and transform his sound into a project, unlike anything he’s done before.
Khalid says the title of the EP is based on an actual scenic drive he’s taken with his friends in El Paso. He’s definitely given us the perfect tracklist for an ambient, mellow drive at sunset.
