Born and raised in California, Lyrical Desperado has been in the music industry for 16 years. He learned how to rap his words and create music by writing poetry and being invited to record music. Artists surround him; his uncles Mike, David, and Arturo have inspired him to follow this journey as an artist. Mike was a lead vocalist for a heavy metal band in the 80’s. David, a drummer, is an onstage performer and professional drummer. Arturo, a performer and bongosero for his band, all inspired Lyrical Desperado.
Describe his genre as West Coast Hip Hop and his style, “My pivoting ability when creating music as an artist is immaculate. So, I can tap into many styles depending on the feel I want for the song I am creating.”
A big highlight of his career was performing for the first time ever at the “Lyricist Lounger Artist Showcase.” He was introduced to Tromaine Scott and Kencai Andrews and offered him a spot to perform. “The venue was packed wall to wall and there was a whole line up of artists from different states set to perform. When it came time for me to perform my set, I went up on stage in front of this massive crowd and rapped both songs bar for bar over just instrumentals (no lyrics). Back then I wrote 16 bar verses, 3 verses per song. So, 96 bars total between both songs not including the hooks. I did not miss one bar the entire set. Once I finished performing the last song, the crowd was so loud clapping, whistling, and yelling. It was truly a moment I will never forget.”
With his family, wife, son, and daughter, are his driving force and motivate him. Creating and experiencing life moments with him outside of working. He is also helping his community. “Giving back to the community is important to me as there are few who are willing to take a stand and rise for those in need.” He organized a protest on June 20, 2020, in Long Beach, CA, called “Close The Camps” Lyrical describes it as “bring awareness to the migrants being detained in ICE facilities who were being tortured, raped, and abused. It was a major community effort and weekend protests spanning from Adelanto, Downtown Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Santa Ana.”
