With a voice and cadence like Brent Faiyaz, Odeal could be another artist in R&B that has you in your feelings driving home from your situationships crib. Even though I dislike comparing and making it seem like a competition between artists, Odeal has the same vibe as the men in R&B we know and love. He puts his own twist on it though which makes him unique. Putting a more afrobeat sound behind his hypnotizing vocals you can’t help but feel everything he is preaching. Releasing the single “You’re stuck” a day before the release of his new album ‘Lustropolis’, Odeal gave fans a taste of the vibe he is going to give on this anticipated album. No one better to feature on this heartfelt track other than the queen of sad lover girls, Ms. Summer Walker. Summer Walker will always match and elevate the track she is featured on. Even though her verse is short, she gives that push for the listener to understand what Odeal is trying to say. We haven’t really heard Summer Walker on an afro beat type track and only really slow classic R&B tracks on her music, as well as featuring on other notable rappers’ tracks such as 21 Savage and Kendrick Lamar. From her highly regarded track record of features, she is reliable and adds so much more than we anticipated from a feature. Flowing between the lines on this beat, adding volume and texture with her ad libs and harmonies. Their voices mix perfectly and have this call and response effect on this track. The production is simple which is ideal for a reminiscent track like this. The song is catchy, it’s good it has all the elements that are needed to make you miss your ex. Check out the rest of Odeal’s album ‘Lustropolis’ as well as Summer Walker’s new single “Heart of a woman.”
