Shygirl Enlists Saweetie for New Song “Immaculate”: Listen | Pitchfork

2024 is the year for the bad girls – and they’re ready to conquer the club scene. South London born rapper, lyricist, and DJ, Shy girl just released a new song “Immaculate” featuring Saweetie. Propelled by the success of opening for the Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s Sweat tour, Shy girl is ready to headline in her own sold out tour. With the release of her album “Club Shy” as well as this new song, Shy girl is continuing to make a place for her music amongst the “bad girl club anthems.”

While Shy girl has long been selling out clubs with fans coming to see her spin and mix, she has made it clear with this song that we shouldn’t be putting her into a box. Shy girl knows talent when she sees it, and she saw this talent in none other than renowned rapper Saweetie. With the addition of Saweetie on this track, this song will have you shaking ass both in and out of the club. Saweetie elevates this bad girl banger by doing what she has been doing since 2017, letting everyone know that she didn’t come to play.

Now, Saweetie’s talent is no stranger to the rap realm, but we haven’t seen her doing anything more experimental until this song. Even though Saweetie’s verse is short, it gave us a glimpse into Saweetie’s musical versatility. Saweetie has shown us that she isn’t afraid to dabble in different genres. Female rappers are often lumped together as a monolithic group and collaborate on tracks simply due to their similar styles. But this song is proof that musicians shouldn’t be confined to just one genre. Regardless of the musical worlds they come from, talented and powerful performers are always able to come together and elevate each others’ music.

With this song, Shy girl has the potential to pioneer a new movement in the rap genre, pushing it to color outside of the lines by introducing more experimental and techno-driven sounds. I had the honor of seeing her live at the Forum and was blown away by her performance. She was only opening the concert, but she left me, along with the rest of the audience, hanging on every beat and craving more from her. I can only imagine what she’ll do with a full team and production backing her on her tour. Shy girl’s track isn’t just a showcase of her versatility, but also a promise that her full album will be one for the books.
