21 Savage’s third solo studio album titled american dream was released on Jan. 12. The album contains 15 tracks, with more than half of them including features from artists like Doja Cat, Travis Scott, and Brent Faiyaz.
The first mention of american dream was back in July 2023 during Drake and 21’s It’s All A Blur Tour. Drake had announced that both him and 21 were working on their respective solo studio albums at the time, which turned out to be american dream and For All The Dogs.
21 then waited till August 2023 to slowly start teasing american dream, and continued to do so during his solo headlining tour in the winter of 2023.
On Jan. 8, Savage announced and released an official trailer for a biopic film titled American Dream: The 21 Savage Story starring himself, Donald Glover, and Caleb McLaughlin that would be released on July 4.
The following day was when Savage revealed the album cover for american dream and its release date of Jan. 12.
That wasn’t all he did for promoting and building the hype of his album.
Up until the release of american dream, Savage posted baby pictures of all the artists who were featured on the album, including Young Thug, Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz, Lil Durk, Travis Scott, Mariah the Scientist, Burna Boy, Metro Boomin, and Doja Cat.
All the hard work and promoting Savage did paid off because american dream quickly hit the charts being Savage’s highest selling solo album, number 1 album on Apple Music in 80 countries, and number 1 on Spotify’s Top Albums. In addition, all 15 tracks held spots on Billboard’s Top 100.
The lead singles for american dream were “Redrum” and “N.H.I.E” featuring Doja Cat.
