Following the success of ‘Renaissance,’ both as an album as well as a tour, fans were filled with anticipation regarding what Beyoncé would put out next. In a truly iconic way, the “Formation” singer announced her upcoming project ‘Renaissance: Act II’ during her Verizon commercial played at the 2024 Super Bowl. Thus far, she has released two of the tracks titled “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.”
The Houston-born artist is tapping into her hometown roots on both tracks by entering the Country genre; “16 Carriages” being the melodic and darker of the two, she sings about her struggles entering the industry, how hard she has worked to be where she is now, and how she will continue to work hard, even if it means leaving normal life for a long tour or prepping for music releases.
“It’s been umpteen summers, and I’m not in my bed / On the back of the bus in a bunk with the band / Goin’ so hard, gotta choose myself / Undеrpaid and overwhelmed / I might cook, clеan, but still won’t fold.”
