Drake steps back into the music scene with his chill new track “Search and Rescue.” The Canadian artist initially released a snippet on Twitter accompanied with the cover art. Fans were immediately intrigued seeing what looks like Kim Kardashian on the cover art, as well as hearing her voice on the track. After fans investigated, it was discovered that the line Kim K says is taken from an episode of ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ where she discussed her divorce with Kanye West to Kris Jenner.
The snippet between the pair states:
“I didn’t come this far, just to come this far and not be happy.”
“Okay, that’s fair.”
“Remember that.”
“You didn’t come this far, just to come this far.”
“Yep, I saw it on the internet.”
The track itself depicts the struggle of finding love as a celebrity, making the Kim K sample fitting. The lyrics in the post-chorus say, “Come and rescue me / Take me out the club / Take me out the trap / Take me off the market / Take me off the map.” Essentially, Drake expresses wanting something stable and lifelong unlike his previous on-and-off relationships. Being “off the market” implies a desire for something exclusive.
