“Did It First” is a bit of a spicy track with overall themes of revenge and pettiness. Ice Spice opens the track with the lyrcis, “If he’s cheatin’, I’m doin’ him worse / No Uno, I hit the reverse / I ain’t trippin’, the grip in my purse / I don’t care ’cause he did it first.” The opening is intense lyrically, but clearly captures what the song is about. Additionally, the mix of styles between Spice and Cee makes for a unique sound. Thus far, it has been fairly well received by fans, however, there is some drama revolving around its release; The rapper duo has caused quite the stir with dating rumors.
Central Cee had been famously dating Tik Toker Madeline Argy for about two years. His iconic track “Doja” includes the lyrics “How can I be homophobic? My b***h is gay,” which is actually about Argy and her bisexuality. Cee and Argy recently split however, when rumors of him cheating on her with Ice Spice were brought to light. Lyrics from “Did It First” imply truth to the rumor; Cee rapped, “She investigating, detective / Lucky for me, I deleted the message / All along, it was me and a bad b***h / But I told her it was me and my bredrin.”
