J. Cole is bringing fans a deeply personal glimpse into his life and career with a new podcast series. Edited from candid conversations with his close collaborator Ibrahim Hamad and filmmaker Scott Lazer, the series promises to tell Cole’s story while featuring unreleased music.
Taking to Instagram, the North Carolina rapper shared a trailer and reflected on the project in a heartfelt post. “It’s hard to describe what this is,” Cole admitted. “We settled on calling it an ‘audio series,’ but to me, it plays like a movie in conversation form.” Over several days, Cole and Hamad shared stories of their journey, a process Cole described as emotional and therapeutic.
Filmmaker Scott Lazer shaped these conversations into a compelling narrative. Hearing the finished product gave Cole fresh clarity. “I felt my adrenaline rush, reliving the ups and downs and how it all played out,” he shared.
For Cole, the project breaks years of hesitancy to share personal details. He hopes the series will inspire listeners, particularly those chasing dreams. “If you’ve rocked with me, this will fill in a lot of blanks,” Cole wrote. “If you have a dream, I hope this feeds your spirit and gives you confidence to push through tough times.”
