The iconic album ‘Souled Out’ by Jhene Aiko has recently hit its 10-year anniversary, and there are a couple ways in which Aiko has celebrated it. The record was put on a limited-edition color vinyl for the first time ever, opaque blue lagoon 2LP to be more specific, of course including the track list from the deluxe version. In addition to the vinyl, the anniversary album comes with two new tracks, “You vs Them (Acoustic),” and “Beautiful Ruin.”
“You vs Them” is actually from another well-known album of hers, ‘Sailing Soul(s).’ The acoustic version adds a greater emotional touch to an already vibey track, continuing to be a popular pick among fans. “Beautiful Ruin” on the other hand, is a hidden gem; It is a fan favorite that had previously only been available on the CD version, specifically purchased at Target. This of course, excited fans once seeing it would be on the anniversary album, both on vinyl and streaming platforms.
“Souled Out” was initially released back in 2014 with some of the popular tracks at the time being “Promises,” “Limbo Limbo Limbo,” and “To Love & Die.” The vibey, RnB style was at a high during this time with some major artists stepping out such as Tinashe, Trey Songz, Jeremih, and so many others. Jhene Aiko gracefully stepped into stardom, becoming a major name in RnB, known for her dreamy yet sensual energy.
