Latto dropped her third single of this year, “Sunday Service” on Feb. 9 with a music video to accompany it.
Before its release, Latto had been teasing the song on TikTok since the beginning of January.
The day before, Latto uploaded a visualizer for the single, which was ultimately the cover artwork of “Sunday Service”. The image shows just Latto’s torso, but wearing an all denim outfit and a large gold chain with a blinged-out cross.
Five days after the release of “Sunday Service”, Latto released an acapella and an instrumental version of the track.
In “Sunday Service”, Latto raps about how she deals with her business and men, and with her confident demeanor, she did not come to play.
There were clever bars, and some lines had people assuming whether Latto was responding to previous disses towards her. Latto ended up clarifying and debunking the meaning of the song on Instagram Live saying “…Y’all need to be mad at y’all self for believing your own assumptions; I ain’t never said that song was no diss song”.
Drama and controversy aside, “Sunday Service” did reach a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100.
