The queen of rap has returned with a catchy new track “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.” The track features a sample from the iconic song “Never Leave You” by Lumidee; “Never Leave You” was even featured in the movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen starring Lindsay Lohan, making this both a fun and well-known sample.
The title of the track itself derives from one of Nicki Minaj’s many alter egos, “Queen Sleeze.” All about how Nicki is the blueprint for many female rappers today, she is not shy to call them out and accuse them of trying to be like her; Minaj however, is not a stranger to imitation, having a multitude of tracks with similar content.
The track strongly opens with Minaj rapping, “Only on them C’s if it’s breeze Red Ruby Da Sleeze / Chinese on my sleeve, these wannabe Chun-Lis / Anyway, 你好 / Who the f**k told b**ches they was me now?” The Queens-raised rapper is expressing how those who try and emulate her style will simply never be her, letting it be known that she herself paved the way.
