Quavo continues to mourn the late Takeoff’s death through tired eyes. With his new release “Honey Bun,” he continues to honor his nephew and highlights how he feels with the world’s eyes on him. Saying “I don’t wanna hear no sorry for my loss… They wanna see my emotions, I ain’t smilin’ at all.”
The track was released accompanied by a music video, directed by Keemotion, which shows Quavo staging a heist inside a vault alone. The music video ends with a beat switch and a verse that talks about how life has been for Quavo since Takeoff’s passing. “I just had my heart frozen and now I close my hand / I ain’t got nothing to give.. / I know it’s been some years but now I’m taking xans / All tears for my mans / Wipe my eyes and start layin’.”
“Honey Bun” is the latest of three songs attributed to Takeoff, the other two being “Greatness” and “Without You.” The latter of which Quavo performed live at the 2023 Grammy Awards.
