In a heartfelt tribute to his late nephew and Migos cohort, Takeoff, Quavo has unveiled his highly-anticipated sophomore album, “Rocket Power,” on August 18th. This release arrives almost a year after their collaborative effort, “Only Built for Infinity Links.”
“Rocket Power” marks Quavo’s second solo album, following the 2018 release of “Quavo Huncho.” The album boasts an array of special guest appearances, including poignant posthumous vocals from Takeoff on “Patty Cake,” as well as contributions from Future (“Turn Yo Clic Up”), Young Thug (“Focused”), and more. Notably absent from this project is fellow Migos member Offset, though the two shared the stage at the 2023 BET Awards in June.
The album’s title, “Rocket Power,” pays homage to Takeoff’s nickname and his solo debut, “The Last Rocket.” Quavo announced the album’s impending arrival in May, expressing on Instagram, “This album is for the Rocket, our true fans, and also, this is my therapy.” He continued to explain that the album authentically reflects his emotional journey, acknowledging moments of strength, disappointment, and vulnerability. Quavo found solace in the Rocket’s inspiration, affirming that “Rocket Power” serves as a guiding force to overcome life’s challenges for everyone
