Moneybagg Yo’s most recent, 17-track album ‘SPEAK NOW” was released in June of this year, making its waves over the summer. The album itself touches on light themes of life’s pleasures and self-confidence; One of the popular tracks being “WHISKEY WHISKEY” featuring popular country singer Morgan Wallen. Despite such a big collaboration, one other standout track is number 12, “PLAY DA FOOL.”
“PLAY DA FOOL” is about Moneybagg feeling conflicted about what is best for him and his career with everyone in his ear giving different opinions. The lyrcis in chorus state, “Some keep tellin’ me “Keep it cool play the fool” / Some keep tellin’ me “Go with your move or you gon’ lose” / Some keep tellin’ me, “Them n****a h**s” / Some keep tellin’ me, “Stay on the road” / Some keep tellin’ me, “Give it a lil’ minute and his true colors gon’ show.”
The track itself includes a lowkey trap beat, typical for the Memphis rapper, paired with a steady yet aggressive flow. Although the themes within his new album are different, he maintains a similar sound, pleasing fans while introducing something new.
