YG is back with his first solo track of the year titled “KNOCKA”, which dropped on April 26. Prior to “KNOCKA”, YG was featured on Stunna Girl’s single, “Stand Up”, back in January.
YG announced the release of “KNOCKA” a day prior on Instagram with a post that revealed the single’s artwork cover. He also hinted at the title of his next project JUST RE’D UP 3 coming out in the summer.
On both Instagram and X, YG posted a clip of the single’s accompanying music video just hours prior to the release.
The music video was directed by Austin Simkins and showcased YG in his element, surrounded by expensive cars, women, stacks of cash, and a lot of flames and pyrotechnics.
The song itself is a hit, composed of various blended sounds and elements from his LA roots while also having a modern take to it. It starts off with a Spanish background vocal track that then transitions into the iconic “4HUNNID” tag before the beat drops and YG begins rapping the chorus.
Weeks prior to the release of “KNOCKA”, YG had just signed a multi-album deal with BMG under his 4Hunnid record label. This makes “KNOCKA” his first single under his new partnership.
