It has been about a decade since the release of the travel “Lifestyle” by Rich Gang which features the likes of Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan who were upcoming artists for the next generation. This was many people’s first introduction to these artists and their new style of rapping to the scene. For many, including myself, this was many people’s first introduction to Young Thug and his style of rapping. I was in high school when this track was released and I immediately enjoyed what Young Thug was doing, but others disliked what the rapper was doing.
“Lifestyle” was released in 2013 and it was the start of a new wave of rap that was coming from Atlanta. Young Thug was at the forefront as “Lifestyle” quickly became popular in the music world. The song received a lot of dislike as it was not your typical style of rapping and was criticized for not understanding the lyrics because they were mumbling. There was another side of hip hop fans that enjoyed the track and wanted more from the duo. It took years, but eventually Young Thug would be beloved by many, but looking back it was a historic moment for their careers.
