On January 9th, a building fire in the Bronx, NY ended up killing 17 people. The cause of the devastating fire was a faulty space heater. It is said to be one of the most deadly New York City fires in 30 years.
Rapper and Entrepreneur, Cardi B volunteered to pay for the funeral and burial costs of all of the Bronx fire victims.
South Bronx native, Cardi B grew up in the Highbridge area and has always been proud to have come from the New York City borough. Cardi’s humble beginnings helped to mold her into who she is today. And the “Bodak Yellow” rapper has decided to pair up with The Mayor’s Fund’s Bronx Fire Relief Fund to give back to the families in recovery after the fire.
In a CNN interview, Cardi B said, “When I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help.”
A family of five unfortunately perished in the fire. A member of that family decided to give Cardi a public “Thank You”. The family member’s name is Haji Dukuray, and he called Cardi B an “angel” for her decision to give financial assistance to the grieving families during these hard times.
