I guess Ice Spice has really made rap royalty as the princess!
Released on Apr. 14th, the “Princess Diana” remix was released featuring none other than Nicki Minaj! Adding cute adlibs like “Finish Him” in the beginning of the song and her own catchy verse that marks a good night getting ready with the girls, the two really come together like royalty. Highlighting the late yet popular Princess of Wales with lyrics like “In the hood / I’m like Princess Diana.”
And of course, the music video matches the vibe. Decked out in all pink and silver, the duo even included Bratz dolls that look just like them and VHS-like footage on a blinged out camera. The collaboration was teased in March when Nicki Minaj tweeted out about “the people’s princess.” But this didn’t come without controversy. Originally also naming fellow rappers such as JT from City Girls and BIA the closest to being the Princess of Rap, fans and Twitter users alike began to speculate that the rap girlies had begun falling out with each other. Thankfully JT cleared things up pretty quickly, explaining that they’re still cool on Instagram Live (IG Live).
