The duo formerly known as Unc & Phew has now released their single ‘Dope Boy Phone’. The song begins with a typical Quavo sound repeating the title before getting into an impressive Takeoff verse where he starts with using “dope boy” in a number of ways in a couple different bars. Then Takeoff references one of their old hits ‘Bando’ when he says “What you need? Cause the Bando don’t close”. Next, he has a bar that talks about his life being good but with anatomies that you would not expect to be together when he says “I get the money for the hard times, even when it’s sunny, but the left wrist still on froze”.

The ‘Workin’ Me’ rapper then returns with his chorus, before getting into his verse. He begins referencing his Northside (or affectionately Nawfside) Atlanta section that we’ve known from them for years before giving various bars that include actions you would do with a phone. Quavo then gives us a glimpse of what life may look like for a “dope boy”. Quavo then ends the verse telling us that he and the Migos are known worldwide before giving us some of the famous ad-libs that made us fall in love with the Migos. The releasing of a posthumous record from Takeoff was a nice, needed touch as we have not got as much of it as we have from other rappers. ‘Dope Boy Phone’ was great to hear a sound that we’ve been in love with for over a decade from familiar voices that we also love.
