Los Angeles-based singer Tonika released her new single “In the Mood” early this week! Tonika highlights her beauty, sexiness, and sensuality in the song and music video. How Tonika came up with her name is combining her parents’ names, her father’s name is Anthony (Toni) and Katrina (Ka). Drawing inspiration from artists like Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Brandy, and Toni Braxton, Tonika sets the tone with passion for romance and takes listeners into her world, which is one where you love and spoil your partner with comfort and companionship.
Tonika says “Imagine coming home from a long stressful day, and your partner is your haven and comfort from the world.” which is her main message through her music. Before this single, she created a 10-song album called FreeQueency which is an ode to the many things that make womanhood beautiful. She says “The title meaning was to free the queen’s presence inside of the woman, empowering and healing the divine feminine.” She explains. She also says “The journey that a woman has to discover the higher consciousness within herself.”
