Signaling listeners far and wide, SZA has released her new album, SOS. And people have been anticipating new music from her for a while now.
With twenty-three new tracks, SOS was released earlier this month (Dec. 8). Since the release of Ctrl (Deluxe) in June, SZA has been teasing at releasing new music, to which she followed up. Throughout the album, we follow SZA going through different stages of a heartache while sampling artists like Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. Between opening the album with the noise ships use to signal ‘SOS’ when they’re at sea, the emotions captured within her lyrics, and using a photo of the late Princess Diana of Wales looking out into the ocean while dealing with feelings of being alone and completely misunderstood as reference for the cover, the album is completely refreshing to hear.
Consisting of features from Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridges, Travis Scott, and even Ol’ Dirty Bastard, SOS leaves you satisfied and with much to unpack. The album has sadly been confirmed as SZA’s last, but definitely seems like the type to age like fine wine, similar to Ctrl. Tickets for her upcoming ‘SOS’ tour went on sale last Friday and even sold out some arenas in minutes!
