THE BEST ROLLING LOUD PERFORMANCES OF 2023

Two weeks ago, Rolling Loud California 2023 happened (Mar. 3-5th). In my hometown of Inglewood, California, at the Hollywood Park adjacent to the LA Rams SoFi stadium.  When it comes to performances, the festival brought in over 100,000 fans and even had people streaming performances online. As a broke college student, I unfortunately couldn’t go, but I had the performances on my laptop as I wrote my final essays. So let’s get into the top 3.

  1. Travis Scott

The Houston native headlined Day 2 of the festival, performing hits such as “Highest In The Room”, “Sicko Mode,” “Goosebumps,” and more. His adlibs and commentary during songs gets the crowd hyped and watching the stream of his set, the mosh pits in the crowd look absolutely insane. Although he started the set 30 minutes late and the set was cut short, this has to be one of the most hyped Rolling Loud performances for the California sector of the festival.

2. Lil Wayne

The Young Money legend came out in a pink mink and pink sunglasses and performed his hits. The beginning of his performance was definitely the buildup of a lifetime. He performed his most popular hits with his set being about an hour long and even brought out fellow rapper, Nicki Minaj. So of course they performed “High School” and she kind of even had her own mini-set, performing “Super Freaky Girl,” and her new hit single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze.”

  1. Ice Spice

The Bronx rapper has paved the way for herself since “Munch (Feelin’ U?)” and the release of her EP, “Like..?” But her stage presence was absolutely something different. With two backup dancers and a DJ that meshed her tracks perfectly, her set had everyone hyped, and seemed to be at the perfect time with the sun about to set in the distance.

And of course, there are honorable mentions! Playboi Carti’s sets are undoubtedly some of the best, especially with the energy he brings and the electric guitar behind his “Whole Lotta Red” songs. On the other hand, we have Lil Yachty, who’s set was a lot more vocal as he performed songs from his new album, “Let’s Start Here.” Lil Baby’s set was another one fun to watch! The setlist went above and beyond, especially going from songs like “Yes Indeed” to “Girls Want Girls.”

This year’s Rolling Loud makes me want to save for the next one for sure. But if you want to watch the Rolling Loud Cali clips for now, check the link out below!
