SZA released an intimate music video for hit song “snooze” featuring Justin Biber in August. The song is one of the most played of her December album “SOS” that spent time as number 1 in the country this winter. The music video perfectly plays out the steamy and passionate meaning of the song featuring scenes depicting highs and lows of the romantic relationships in SZAs past.
The video features a number of men that play the roles of former lovers; singer/songwriter Justine Biber, songwriter Benny Blancos, actor Woody McClain, actor Young Mazino and a robot. All these men play a role in depicting the stories and progression of SZAs fictional relationships with each of them.
The scenes in the beginning of the music video depict seemingly perfect relationships with her partners. From picture perfect picnics with Young Mazino and sharing her music with Justin Biber in the bedroom, we get the picture of a woman who has her love life figured out. The music video takes a dramatic turn as the men start to act out unfavorably and the relationships unravel. The heated arguments and heartbreaking lyrics are interrupted with an angelic scene of Sza dancing for the fifth and final man, a Robot. The music video acts out the lyrics of the song that so perfectly encapsulate the highs and lows of being in love in metaphorical ways. The video ends with the final cut to Sza running into the hands of a man on a big grass field, likely another metaphor for fans to unpack.
