Have you heard the new brutally frank and fierce “Like That” by Kendrick Lamar & Metro Boomin released on March 22, 2024? These artists have worked together before and this was their official fourth collab after Mike Will Made-It’s “Buy the World,” Future’s “Mask off” remix, and Jay Rock’s “King’s Dead.”

Debuted at number one on Billboard Hot 100 over the chart week ending April 5, 2024 with 59.6 million streams, 5.6 million radio audiences, and 9,000 units sold, “Like That” hits the radio and is making fans go wild. Future and Kendrick seem to work well together as it is their official third chart-topper. It is also Metro’s first chart-topper as a solo artist, as he produced this song himself, which is extremely exciting for him and his career moving forward.

Before the song was released with “We Don’t Trust You,” “Like That” was performed by Future & Metro Boomin at the Rolling Loud concert in California during Travis Scott’s set. This song has ignited confidence in Lamar as he openly called himself the “best in the game” after this release. He knows he is the icon of rap and continues to impress us as well as himself. The song also includes other parts of tracks such as “Eazy-Duz-It,” “Everlasting Bass,” and “Look at Me” to add a unique spin and traditional sound to the hardcore rap song.

This song is viewed as an honest and direct track in which Lamar & Boomin express their feelings presumably towards Drake, making references to Drake comparing himself to Michael Jackson and Prince. This “rivalry” between Drake and Lamar is evident in the lyrics in which not only call out Drake, but present Lamar as “the best.” This sense of competition is reflected in the fast paced, intense, and hard core beats of the song that creates a sense of tension and catchiness, which all rap fans love to hear and invest in.
