One of the most anticipated albums of 2021 has finally dropped, with Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak as they continue to prove they are one of the best duos in the music industry. The wait is over and Silk Sonic has dropped their debut album ‘An Evening With Silk Sonic’.
The introduction to the duo’s music came with the release of their lead single, “Leave the Door Open”, debuting at #1 on the Top 100 Billboard charts and included a Grammy performance for the ages. What has since followed includes two more singles, the roller rink anthem, “Skate” and the post-breakup anthem “Smokin Out the Window”. The magic of the singles is amplified when put into context of the entire album. The two’s chemistry is on full display here, and the artists float through each song with ease, leaving room for multiple moments to shine on each song.
The album, hosted by the legendary Bootsy Collins, helps create the aesthetic of the “old school” throwback album extremely well. Collins pops in and out of the album to provide that feel of a throwback ’60-’70s era styled album while providing great one-liners along the way. The only other feature on the album comes in the form of an incredible Thundercat feature, playing the bass on the song, “After Last Night”.
Highlights from the album include: “After Last Night” featuring Thundercat and Bootsy Collins, “Leave the Door Open”, “Blast Off” and “Smokin’ Out the Window”.
We are all hoping that this album isn’t just a one evening event only and that Silk Sonic continues to bless our ears with more music in the future.
