On Feb. 23, DDG released his latest single “Going To The Top”. This is DDG’s second single to drop this year after “Winning”, which dropped on Jan. 12.
In “Going To The Top”, DDG raps about his journey grinding to success in the music industry and how he isn’t letting anyone or anything stop him from getting there.
The track itself has a smooth beat, produced by HARZ and Yungflavor39, and DDG rides it with a repetitive, but catchy melody.
The release of “Going To The Top” also came with a music video that was directed by BenMarc. The music video includes scenes of DDG flexing with his crew in a parking garage in front of a Benz, going up in an elevator, and arriving at what appears to be a nightclub setting.
On Feb. 28, DDG also uploaded a behind the scenes video for “Going To The Top” on his vlog channel, PontiacMadeDDG Vlogs. The video, being nearly 17 minutes long, shows the creation and process of making the music video.
DDG has been in the industry for quite a while now, so there’s no question about him being too far from the success he strives for. DDG, which stands for Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., got his start being an entertainer off of YouTube way back in 2014 by making vlogs.
It wasn’t until 2018 when he signed with Epic Records, and then co-founded his own label, Zooted Music, in 2020. That year, DDG dropped his single “Moonwalking in Calabasas” featuring Blueface, and it reached a spot at 82 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
