Ye continues his incredible run over the past year and a half with the rumors of a Donda Sports Brand being on the way. The artist formerly known as Kanye West is working on a sports brand that would work as a fashion brand for athletes.
The brand seemingly already has a key contributor and ambassador in NFL wide receiver, Antonio Brown. The former Buccaneers receiver in an interview with Complex Magazine said, “we’re just excited about the Donda sports brand, and making this thing a competitive sports brand to the athletes. I don’t think there’s a lot of fashion lines for athletes, wearing fashionable and comfortable clothes.”
With Ye seemingly planning world domination at this point (his DONDA Academy, the Gap clothing line that includes a Balenciaga collaboration, and the rumored Yeezy x Air Jordan collaboration), him going into the sports fashion industry isn’t that shocking of news. Especially with the opening of the Donda Academy in late 2021, Ye has been a growing force in the sports community, mainly basketball. As the Donda Doves have been a huge source of news for the prep academy circuit. With their recent media spotlight in the popular basketball magazine, SLAM. Highlighting the culture of the school and team, the article goes into a deep dive of it all.
It remains to be seen when exactly the Donda sports brand will be released, but (as usual) we all wait with excitement to see how Ye goes about it. With ‘Donda 2.0’ on the horizon along with the sports brand, Yeezy season seems to be year-round these days.
